Charity Golf Network

Your source for information about hosting a charity golf tournament.

Hello everyone and welcome to Charity Golf Network, THE social network for all those lost souls out there trying to figure out how to make money on a charity golf tournament.

As you can tell we're pretty much just off the first tee with this project, but we hope to grow a lot over the next few months. We're looking for sponsors and advertisers and, of course, new members. So what's this site all about? Let me 'splain.....

1. Charity golf tournaments are the most powerful special event fund-raising machines in charity fund-raising. Charity golf raises tens of millions of dollars for every sort of charity imaginable. The PGA estimates charity golf has raised more than 3 billion dollars in operating capital for charities just since they've begun keeping track a few years ago.

2. Every year thousands of charity golf tournaments fail to raise money. Some actually go in the hole and die.

3. Many volunteers come to charity golf with no prior experience in special even fund-raising, no knowledge of golf and don't know where to start.

4. There are over 150,000 charity golf tournaments in the U.S. each year. Somebody out there knows what you are doing and can help you.

5. There is power in social networking

So.....

The Charity Golf Network is being established to help you figure out how to run a successful charity golf tournament even if you've never swung a club in anger! My name is Tom King. I'm author of the book "Going for the Green: An Insider's Guide to Raising Money with Charity Golf" published by and available from Emerson & Church Publishing or Amazon.com.

I have a little secret, though.

I've only played one round of golf in my life. I really stunk at it. I shot a 70 over par. I enjoyed it so much I went out and bought a whole bag of used clubs. Despite my golfing deficits, however, I've helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for small charities running charity tournaments. That's the dirty little secret to charity golf. You don't have to be a golfer to run a charity tournament. Sometimes it's helpful not to be a golfer - you can see things more objectively that way.

Whatever your golfing skills level, though, we welcome you to Charity Golf Network. If you've got a question or problem, feel free to start a discussion and if anyone here can answer your question, we'll give it a try. You can also buy my book or check out the freebie downloadable stuff that's available out there too. Whatever you do, talk to folks who have done this before. We love it when you make lots of money.

Oh, and if you do make lots of money, please come back and brag about how you did it. We are inquiring minds and we do want to know!
