In this paper, we provide a comprehensive survey of the following relevant wireless technologies: IEEE 802.11, Bluetooth, IEEE 802.15.4-oriented, and Sub-GHz-based LoRa. Our goal is to highlight how various communication technologies may be suitable for mesh networking, either providing a native support or being adapted subsequently. Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) are characterized by dynamic self-organization, self-configuration, and self-healing to enable flexible integration [1], quick deployment, easy maintenance, and low cost and may also be used to improve the performance of multi-hop ad hoc networks, Wireless Local Areas Networks (WLANs) and Wireless Metropolitan Area An example of mesh networks is illustrated in Figure 1. In fact, a mesh network is divided into three parts: - The first level is generally distinguished gateway nodes for wireless mesh nodes passed to external networks such as Internet, GSM, WiMax, etc - The 2nd level is the mesh nodes (wireless AP) 1 A Survey of Network Design Problems and Joint Design Approaches in Wireless Mesh Networks 1 A Survey of Network Design Problems and Joint Design Approaches in Wireless Mesh Networks∗ Parth H. Pathak and Rudra Dutta Computer Science Department, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC 27606. {phpathak@ncsu.edu, dutta@csc.ncsu.edu} Abstract Wireless mesh network (WMN) is a type of self-healing, self-configuration, and peer-to-peer wireless network. Without expensive and fixed base stations, WMN can be established fast, easily, and flexibly at a low cost. The convenience and flexibility of establishing WMN brings a wide range of applications. Res. in Network Security and Communication ISSN: 2321-3256 Abstract: Wireless Mesh network gives the new definition in wireless broadband technology with the advantage of various enhanced features such as self organising, self-configuring and self-healing which helps to significantly reduce the complexity, A comparative survey of IDS approaches for related low-power wireless protocols was used to map out potential approaches for enhancing IDS solutions for BLE Mesh networks, showing that the implementation of BLE pure mesh protocols remains an open research issue. 10 Highly Influenced PDF View 5 excerpts, cites background Mainly 3 types of routing protocols are used in WMNs. Designing efficient WMNs has become a major task for networks operators. Over the last few years, a plethora of studies has been carried out to improve the efficiency of wireless networks. However, only a few Wireless mesh networks (WMNs
