Surface texturing in machine elements—A critical discussion for rolling and sliding contacts. Guegan and coworkers have addressed the important problem of friction of elastohydrodynamic contacts in the mixed regime. Any attempt at understanding friction in the mixed regime must address the friction in the full-film regime. To analyze fiction for the full film, they used a common, but unsupported, assumption that the friction curve is a rheological flow curve. The inconsistency can be The values ranged from 0.18 to 0.33 for 0.05 N, 0.12 to 0.19 for 0.1 N and 0.07 to 0.12 for 0.2 N. Friction coefficient decreases with load but increases with speed, and compare well with hydrodynamic theory. This is expected, as no liquid slip should occur. Results are repeatable, but with wider scatter at the lowest load of 0.05 N. Micron-scale, high-aspect-ratio features were imprinted by a roll-to-roll process into a UV-curable polymer and used to create high-current-carrying conductive networks on plastic substrates. A stamp fabrication method was developed to create low-cost, rapidly produced roll-to-roll imprinting stamps, which can mold features from 3 μm to 1 mm wide. Isolated raised features 50 μm high were 108 F. Mugele et al./Colloids and Surfaces A:Physicochem. Eng. Aspects 206 (2002) 105-113 Fig. 2. (a) Sample layer system, which was used for simulations. To understand some main ink flow mechanisms in a mimeograph printer, the continuum mechanics theory of fluid-saturated porous solids is applied to analyze the ink flow through screens and a printing master, which are modeled by a fluid-filled poroelastic single layer. The layer is assumed to be pressed by a press roller from below and to be subjected from above to the hydrodynamic lubrication The paper focuses on the solution of a numerical model to explore the sliding and non‐Newtonian fluid behaviour in soft elastohydrodynamic nip contacts. The solution required the coupling of the fluid and elastomer regimes, with the non‐Newtonian fluid properties being described using a power law relationship. The analysis showed that the fluid characteristics as defined by the power law computer printer. The quality of this reproduction is dependent upon the quality of the copy submitted.
